Three weeks among professional artists and international participants at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium.
Participate in training, workshops and contribute to a performing arts exchange that reflects and produces theatre across time, traditions, and genre.
ACTHOW is a laboratory workshop platform that encourages artists to engage in new collaborations and artistic constellations. The aim is both verbally and physically to investigate and challenge the question ACTHOW? or, in other words: to ask ourselves how do we act, interact, and react artistically with others and our surroundings?
We encourage artists in all fields of theatre and performing arts to come and share, and receive, knowledge with and from others, and to make work together. There are a few places for participant-observers.
Why ACTHOW?
Theatre has in recent years gone through significant challenges and changes. When old questions (re)arise, we cannot expect the answers to be the same as when they were first asked.
The NTL has always been a place of artistic meetings and investigations, but also seeks to redefine its purpose and engage in new and ongoing questions.
We have all had to re-find our curiosity and need to keep asking: why are we here? What do we want? How do we act?
Answers change with time. And so do the ways we perform, collaborate, and meet our audiences, and the way that we make theatre, and why.
We encourage our colleagues around the world to question our common workplace and ways of production and share moments with audiences.
ACTHOWstarts with the key questions:
In what ways can we act, interact, and react with others and the world that surrounds us?
How do we preserve and renew the field of acting without losing depth and reach?
The NTL will host different kinds of training and workshop opportunities during the morning and afternoon and have open ‘workspaces’ to encourage collaboration and new work. There will also be different performances from artists connected to the NTL, and ongoing documentation activities.
The first days of ACTHOW are reserved for the participants to present themselves and their way of working, with the aim of creating relationships between the participants themselves and between those already at NTL.
Further information on preparatory tasks will be sent upon registration.
