Oqaatsit Kingomussat - New Music Exchange is a project on artistic co-creation and cultural exchange between artists from Greenland, Denmark and Scotland and on developing closer relations between new music environments in the Nordic countries and artists and music players in Greenland. The project was initiated by the Nordic Music Days festival and is realised in collaboration with Nordic Theatre Laboratory.
Five artists, each with their own musical background and expression, will create a concert performance for the opening night of the festival on 30 October 2024, and in addition to the joint performance, each artist will be involved in the festival in other ways, including a comprehensive industry programme for musicians, composers and a wide range of players from the music and culture industry in the Nordic region and Scotland.
The project will be presented at Suialaa Arts Festival and selected venues in Denmark in 2025, subject to funding being secured for this part.
On October 30th, 2024, the project will premiere at The Fruit Market in Glasgow. opening of the Nordic Music Days as part of a concert programme that also features musicians from the Faroese ensemble Áldubaran, Ensemble Temporum from Norway and the Finnish Defun Ensemble
