Workshop with Danish songs in flamenco style

Skærbæk Egnskor and Sing'n Swing will hold a workshop with Erika Sanchex and Kai Bredholt, and a public concert.

What happens when Danish songs are exposed to Spanish and Mexican music and dance traditions? The result is a musical fireworks display with both grace and exciting rhythms. You can experience this when Skærbæk Egnskor and Sing'n Swing hold a workshop on Saturday 31 August with the duo Erika Sanchex and Kai Bredholt.

Kai Bredholt has been an actor, musician and director at Odin Teatret in Holstebro for 30 years. Erika Sanchex, who comes from Mexico, is a flamenco dancer. She lives in Denmark and works as a dancer, singer and as an organiser of cultural events and theatre performances.

With accordion, the Mexican string instrument jarana and flamenco shoes on their feet, Erika and Kai interpret Danish songs in true flamenco style, with flamenco dance, Mexican songs and West Jutland party polonaise.

The workshop ends with a public concert entitled: ‘Danish songs and hymns in a flamenco dress’, where the choirs, together with Erika and Kai, will perform some of what they have worked on together during the day. Read more here
