Songwriters in a Box

Songwriters in a Box welcomes singer and songwriter Trinelise Væring, who has released over 14 critically acclaimed albums. In addition, singer and guitarist Alex Medhurst, and student at DTA's writing program, Ida Neergaard Kronegh, will be joining the band.

Trinelise Væring

Trinelise Væring is a critically acclaimed Danish singer and songwriter with a long and multifaceted career. She has released 14 albums in Danish and English and has moved from a jazz diva to a distinctive and personal songwriter. In the late 00s, she switched to writing in Danish and was highlighted by reviewers in Dagbladet Information and Politiken as one of the country's most exciting and personal artists.

Her latest album, A Songwriter's Odyssey, was recorded in Canada and marks a return to the English language in an Americana/country universe. The album has received great international reviews and airplay in North America, England and Australia, among others, and she has been compared to Lucinda Williams.

Trinelise's songs revolve around the challenges of adulthood, dreams and perseverance. She has received several DMA nominations and, in 2022, won the award for Vocal Jazz Release of the Year with the Tone of Voice Orchestra, which she leads alongside jazz musician Fredrik Lundin.

Alex Medhurst

Alex Medhurst finds inspiration in everyday moments - from small sensations to strong emotions. Her lyrics bear the mark of having grown up with both Danish and English, and she moves effortlessly between the two languages.

She has roots in classical choir from the Danish School of Music and studies at MGK in Holstebro, but when she composes, she starts with the guitar. Through an exploratory production process, she works with layers of guitar, synth and vocal. Based on her classic choral harmonies, she creates a personal expression where techno, acoustic guitar melodies and choral arrangements merge.

Ida Neergaard Kronegh

Ida Neergaard Kronegh is 22 years old and originally comes from Copenhagen, but has recently moved to Holstebro to attend the Danish Talent Academy's writing program. Her writing is based on her own experiences and revolves around themes such as feeling left out in the world,

Brainstorming, and trying to fit in with the crowd.

She mostly writes short prose and/or poems in blunt language.
