Babel Babel Babel will be visiting the theatre festival "Enestående" at Teatret Gruppe 38 as part of the Danish tour.
"Babel Babel Babel" takes you on a musical journey through the volatile nature of love, our mundane realities, war, nationalism and desires for freedom.
This cabaret is a story told through music about the angel Babylon, who tries to find his way through the human world with a Babylonian mix of languages.
It is a grotesque cabaret with humour, irony and passion. We meet heaven, a fallen angel, a madman who talks to himself, and the audience. It slowly draws you deeper into the nooks and crannies of love and life, with both lightness and gravity.
The cabaret is built around music and songs from the 30s and 40s by, among others, P.H., Edith Piaf, Brecht, Balz, Weil and Holländer, etc.
A reenactment of decades on stage
"Babel Babel Babel" is a reenactment of "Nattens Babylon" (Eng: Babylon of the Night) in a new arrangement and with Anders Øster as the new accompanist. Søs Banke was on tour with Nattens Babylon from 2004 to 2014 alongside musicians Torben Lassen and Nikolai Seidelin under the name "Babylon Trio". The show at the time was an offshoot of the cabaret "Liebe ist Kein Geheimniss", which was created in 2002 by Søs Banke and the Zimmer Theatre in Tübingen in southern Germany, where it was first performed with a different musical crew.
Today, the show continues to be performed with Søs Banke as Babel and Anders Øster on the keys.
