We are excited to share the latest developments in the VAHA Project Play Lab, a collaboration between Play Roots Hub (comprising Dîwan Academy and Batman Yenisahne in Turkey) and Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium-Odin Teatret. This project is part of the broader VAHA initiative, fostering cultural exchange, artistic collaboration, and cross-border social engagement.
As part of this collaboration, Roberta Carreri, a longtime performer and teacher at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium-Odin Teatret, recently travelled to Batman, Turkey. Her visit focused on sharing her experience in theatrical practice, conducting workshops, and working with the local community at Dîwan Academy and Batman Yenisahne. Roberta’s trip was a valuable artistic exchange and a deep exploration of how theatre can bridge cultures. The experience was filled with enriching artistic interactions, workshops, and creative experimentation, making it a pivotal moment in the VAHA collaboration.
Looking ahead, members of Play Roots Hub will be visiting Holstebro in December 2024. During this visit, they will participate in Odin Teatret’s renowned Dance of Intentions, an annual event celebrating the creative spirit of intercultural collaboration. Their visit will also include a series of meetings discussing future collaborations between Play Roots Hub and Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium. These discussions will explore opportunities for the development of new artistic projects.
To document this rich exchange, we are also planning to produce a video to capture this cross-cultural partnership's essence. The video will highlight key moments from Roberta Carreri’s trip to Batman and the Play Roots Hub visit to Holstebro, showcasing the power of theatre to connect artists and communities across borders. This video will serve as a testament to the enduring importance of international collaboration in the arts and how projects like VAHA continue to push boundaries and create lasting impact.
We look forward to welcoming Play Roots Hub in December and to continuing this vibrant and inspiring collaboration as we build new pathways for artistic and social engagement.
