The honey badger. Brave. Fearless. Always finds its way or creates one. Can endure almost any harm and never gives up.

All of the knowledge and skills passes to its younglings. Until they are capable of starting their own journey of life.

Even in the deepest darkness, there is a glimmer of light. The past cannot be changed. But perhaps the future can be?

Honey Badger is a powerful and vulnerable look into the consequences of childhood abuse and its devastating effects. A young, undaunted, man travels back in time, relives and confront his past: neglect, guilt, shame, and the deep longing for love and care.

Drawing parallels with the harshest aspects of parental roles in the animal kingdom, the performance explores the unpredictability of parent-child relationships, and the almost inevitable cycle of perpetuating mistreat and trauma from one generation to another.

Directed by Roberta Carreri, and featuring a poetic blend of original text and music, the audience are taken deep into the child’s pain, a pain that still lingers beneath the surface into adulthood.

Honey Badger is a courageous work that speaks aloud what too many prefer to keep hidden – the wounds that are left on you forever. But still, you can heal and the scars can fade.
