The theme for workshop 2 is: The theatre archive in action
Why is the archive valuable? If a theatre is going to spend resources on creating an archive, it's important to know why and for whom you're doing it. Gain insight a range of options and be inspired by practical experiences of how the archive can add value in different phases of theatre operations.
Historian Marianne Philipsen, Aarhus Theatre, will talk about the archive as a resource
in the research phase at the theatre. She has repatriated and expanded the theatre's archive so that now serves as an inspiring space at the theatre and reaches out to the audience via the theatre's website. This gives the archive a value as both an identity builder
internally and externally.
Associate Professor Karen Vedel presents the new methods she and the group around the
research project Knowledge in motion: dance, body, archive have developed to utilise physical bodily and physical archives in creative processes. Dancers Andrea Deres and
Carolina Bäckmann demonstrate together with the course participants how to
how to work with the archive in practice based on the approaches developed in the project.
In addition, there will be a presentation of how the individual artist can create
and benefit from the archive.
Senior researcher Anna Lawaetz from Det Kgl. Bibliotek will introduce, talk about international international trends and give tips and tricks on how to make it easy to get started to get started with archiving - both physically and digitally.
